1-on-1 tutoring focused on understanding the reasoning behind math — not just the steps. Sessions at Milton Public Library.
Shan is a tutor based in Milton with a PhD in Engineering and 8+ years in software development and applied research. He started Shan's Class to offer focused, 1-on-1 math tutoring for students in Grades 3–8.
His approach centres on understanding rather than memorization — working through concepts carefully until they genuinely make sense, then building forward from there.
Before working on current material, we figure out exactly where understanding broke down — which is often an earlier concept.
Every method is taught with an explanation of why it works, not just how to apply it.
We don't move on until the concept is clear. No rushing, no skipping.
Math tutoring is the current focus. Additional subjects are being developed and will be offered in the future.
1-on-1 sessions working through math concepts at the student's pace. We start by identifying any gaps in foundational understanding and work forward from there.
Science tutoring covering Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Currently in development.
Introductory coding through custom-designed Scratch projects. Aimed at younger students.
Hands-on electronics using real components and microcontrollers. Building circuits and simple devices.
Sessions are straightforward. Here's roughly how things go from first contact to regular sessions.
Send a message or call. We'll have a quick chat about where your child is and what they need.
A relaxed concept check to see where understanding is solid and where there are gaps. No pressure — we work through a real topic together.
Weekly or bi-weekly sessions at an agreed time. Progress is tracked and you'll get a brief update after each one.
Location: Sessions are held at a branch of the Milton Public Library (MPL).
Online: Online sessions are also available if preferred.
Scheduling: Weekly or bi-weekly, 60 minutes per session. We'll find a time that works for your family.
Parent updates: After each session, Shan sends a short note on what was covered and what's next. A parent portal with formal tracking is in development.
Reach out by phone, email, or through the website. Happy to answer any questions before committing to anything.
